Cable-net and fabric formwork system
Flexible and reusable formworks for concrete shells.

Doubly curved concrete shells are structurally efficient but usually require wasteful single-use timber formwork. This research developed a cable-net and fabric formwork system whose geometry can be actively controlled by adjusting cable tensions — a reusable, ultra-lightweight alternative demonstrated at full scale in a 1:1 prototype and in the roof of the HiLo unit.
