Ventilated metamaterial sound barriers
Fano-like acoustic barriers that block noise while letting air flow through.

Natural ventilation and noise control are usually at odds: openings that admit air also admit sound. This project designs ventilated sound barriers for building facades based on Fano-like interference — metamaterial arrays that attenuate targeted noise bands while remaining open to airflow. The work combines experimental prototypes, numerical models, and surrogate/machine learning models that make the design space searchable at interactive speeds.
